One of New Zealand's largest yarn manufacturers is seeking to appoint an experienced Maintenance Electrician to join their team in Napier. As part of the Maintenance team, the Maintenance Electrician will work as part of a well skilled team who focus on reliability and preventative maintenance across a highly automated production facility. This position suits someone who is energetic, organised, with strong fault-finding skills. The successful candidate will also need to have a strong industrial background.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Identify, plan and implement productivity initiatives and projects to effectively reduce downtime and improve OE and plant optimisation (of electrical systems)
• Ensure planned electrical preventative maintenance and system checks are completed to schedule and in a timely manner
• Diagnostic/repair work to resolve breakdowns
• Ensure all electrical and other site documentation is updated as required
• Provide PLC diagnostic and installation support of PLC systems, including ad-hoc programming as required
• Ensure that all electrical equipment and installations are safe and compliant to AS/NZ standards
• Ensuring best practice maintenance is maintained
• Contributing to the ongoing continuous improvement strategy

Skills and experience:

• Outstanding planning and organising capability
• High level of electrical and mechanical problem solving skills
• PLC experience would be great, but not essential
• Flexibility to adapt to a changing environment
• Coaching and mentoring skills
• Experience within a manufacturing environment
• A relevant trade qualification and electrical registration
• Pre- Employment drug test, MOJ and ACC check will be required
• Positive attitude and a great team player are essential skills

There is plenty of overtime and the successful candidate will need to be part of the call out roster. On the plus side, the position comes with an on call allowance and offers great call out rates. Client is happy to discuss relocation costs if applicable.
