Our client are leaders in maritime and offshore safety systems providing services predominately to the defence and oil and gas industries.  Due to further growth and development they are now inline to employ a Service Technician to join their team on a full-time basis. Based in the Darwin workshop and reporting to the Operations Manager this role may on occasions see you fly to site (both on and offshore).
 
Your primary responsibility will be to perform repairs on inflatable boats & associated equipment.  Other duties will include:
  • Pressure relief valve and cylinder pressure testing
  • Assist Fire Technicians in servicing fire fighting equipment
  • Conduct onsite installations and repairs when required
  • Provide reports and documentation to Darwin management
  • Comply with strict OH&S policies and procedures along with additional training and certifications when required (company will cover costs)
To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate the following:
  • Previous experience in the repairs and servicing of life-rafts or other marine vessels / equipment
  • Be willing to travel away from home for a period of time if and when required (penalty rates and allowances paid)
  • Have a genuine willingness to learn and show initiative in your approach to your work 
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and an understanding of the marine industry 
  • Have the ability to work independently, under pressure and problem solve
  • Be an Australian permanent resident with full work rights and current drivers license
  • Be physically fit and able to pass a pre-employment medical including a D&A
This position does not require you to be trade qualified, but experience is a MUST.  In return you will be well remunerated on a negotiable hourly rate of $31.00-$34.00 per hour + super + penalties and generous allowances if going to site (Min 38 hour week). You will have supportive management and be a part of a company that is willing to further train and develop your skills including obtaining nationally recognised tickets if required.
