The Security and Traffic Manager is a senior position within Campus Life, an element of the Corporate Services Division at Griffith University.

Campus Life incorporates a range of support units providing technical and strategic advice, and support & services across the University's 5 campuses encompassing: Facilities Management; Planning, Design and Construction and Campus Services.

The Security and Traffic Manager sits within the Facilities Management section, reporting to the Associate Director, Facilities Management. The Security and Traffic Manager has overall responsibility for the safety and security of the University's physical infrastructure, staff, students and visitors, and the management and regulation of parking on the University's campuses. We are seeking a highly experienced manager with an extensive background in security and parking who is capable of managing and working with am high performance team, delivering improvements and achieving high quality outcomes.

The opportunity
The Security & Traffic Manager position is a senior appointment involved in the Leadership, Planning, and Management within Campus Life. The role has responsibility for the Universality's full Security and Traffic management, including: physical and electronic security, management of security contractors; emergency services liaison, emergency response, engagement with other role related external agencies and parking operations.

The Security and Traffic Manager works under broad direction and is responsible for the management of, but not limited to:

  • Developing strategy, planning and policy development for current and future security and parking operations.
  • Development and procurement of security services and systems contracts inclusive of operational contract management.
  • Security, Traffic and security systems installation, maintenance and management, including but not limited to: access control, intruder alarms, CCTV, parking meters and infringement applications.
  • Oversight of effective parking operations (Opex and Capex), civil infrastructure planning, traffic management and regulation.
  • Emergency response to physical emergencies on the University's campuses.


This is a continuing, full time position based at the Nathan campus.

About you
The university is seeking an exceptional individual with a tertiary qualification, or, at least 10 years experience working within a large multi-discipline multi-site security environment with an ability to analyse and think strategically within a demanding and complex setting.

A proven demonstrable ability to lead in key operational areas such as:

  • Driving continual development and improvement and fostering best practice within a Security and Traffic Management arena.
  • Maximising the use of technology, software and systems to drive simplification and efficiency in operational activities and service performance.
  • Maximising added value though existing contracts by effective management of key contractors.
  • Communication, problem solving and prioritisation within a team orientated environment.


The role will also require an individual with a high-level of experience in the use of an array of software and systems including Microsoft Office, Security and Access Control systems, CCTV and database programs.

Salary range
HEW Level 10: $116,202 per annum. Salary package including 17% employer superannuation contribution: $135,957 per annum.
