About the Position

The objective of the position is to maintain, service and repair TOMRAs reverse vending machine installations to ensure maximum up-time and customer satisfaction.The installations include reverse vending machines as well as conveyors, sensors, mobile comms and other equipment. Whilst you will visit the TOMRA office and warehouse occasionally for administration and to collect spare parts, you will mainly work from home and be on the road extensively. TOMRA will provide a fully maintained vehicle (van), required tools and equipment, training and manuals.

The main duties of the position include:

  • Corrective Servicing: Analysing, diagnosing and rectifying equipment issues to minimize down time of RVM installations. 
  • Preventative Servicing: Service and maintain installed equipment including scheduled maintenance visits.
  • Reporting on service assignments and faults (online and/or paper) 
  • Installation: after training, Field Service Technicians will be involved in the commissioning of RVM installations.
  • Driving for long periods as required for the above; attending to some occasional call-outs as and when required. 

Other duties include

  • Conduct training sessions on use and basic maintenance of systems if required.
  • Manage and control tools, test equipment, technical documentation and other assigned equipment
  • Perform all mechanical and electronics tuning and setup
  • Ensure that your equipment, spares and van kit is always complete according to inventory list.
  • Analyse areas of potential improvement of products and report to local service team
  • Stay informed and up to date with TOMRA’s RVMs and products.
  • Undertake cleaning of equipment and installations.

About the Person

First and foremost, we are looking for people who can represent TOMRA and take pride in what they do. That means making sure our equipment is always working well and is available to our customers. You must be able to work independently with a minimum of supervision.

We are also looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

  • At least five, preferably eight years’ satisfactory experience in a similar complex service or maintenance position.
  • Very strong diagnostic and analytical capabilities, especially in relation to mechanical, electrical and electronic equipment.
  • Mechanical: Must be able to read mechanical drawings and be able to troubleshoot and repair a variety of electro-mechanical equipment.
  • Electrical: Must be able to read wiring schematics. Must be able to troubleshoot and repair electrical failure or fault within the electrical components of the RVM.
  • Electronic: Must have experience troubleshooting electronic equipment and be able to replace circuit boards, sensors and other electronic components of the RVM.
  • Customer Service: Must be personable; have very good customer service skills; be able to maintain relationships with TOMRA’s customers and team members; must be able to communicate effectively.
  • Driving:  Candidates must have an unrestricted drivers licence; must be capable of and willing to drive for extended periods; must be able to effectively navigate to and from RVM locations.
  • Physically Fit: must be able to lift and move heavy objects; must be able to bend, kneel and stand without restriction.
  • Safety: able to demonstrate strong awareness of safety procedures and practices in previous positions; previous training in work place safety practices well regarded.
  • We are also looking for people who’s past history demonstrates: professionalism, the ability to work independently, reliability, and a sense of pride in what they do
  • Relevant qualifications or certification in electrical, electronic or mechanical engineering would be well regarded.

Reverse vending is relatively new to Australia, so we don’t expect candidates to have direct prior experience, but you may have previously worked installing or maintaining ATMs, conventional vending machines, gaming machines, security systems, home communications & electronics or other similar sophisticated electronic systems and equipment. Any previous experience with RVM’s will be highly favorable and if this is applicable, candidates with less than five years of similar experience may apply.
