Wastech is a leading designer, manufacturer and provider of equipment solutions and service support to the Australian waste and recycling industries.  Its product portfolio includes, waste compaction equipment, balers, transfer stations, transfer trailers, sorting facilities, waste chutes and rubbish trucks. Location: Hallam Victoria.

The Role

If you have experience in managing the workshop maintenance on fleets of Garbage trucks and are mechanically trained then this is the role for you. This role will see you assist in developing and growing our Waste Collection Body and Road Sweeper division within the Wastech group. This position will be a Technical Support Role with a focus on coordinating the importation and fit up of the bodies as well as after sales technical support for our service team. The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring we bring in the correct specified stock and organising the technical support documentation to support the product. We will train you to be our technical expert on  the Faun equipment and you will travel to customers depots to provide training to their service techs. This position requires a high level of technical knowledge within the mobile garbage truck industry along with excellent communication skills to provide timely advice and support on the wide range of products.

The main responsibilities for the role include:

• Liaising with the overseas supplier on all aspects of the products including specifications and technical requirements
• Liaise with suppliers to coordinate the timing of the delivery of bodies and the required locally installed components
• Liaise with local suppliers to obtain the most suitable equipment and best prices for aftermarket options that need to be installed on the imported bodies.
• Ensuring timely delivered vehicles match quoted specification
• Provide hydraulic, electrical and mechanical support to our service techs, subcontractors and customers maintenance personnel around the country.
• Liaise with overseas suppliers to fault find and gather technical data as required.

The right person for the position will have:

• Heavy diesel mechanical training with experience in waste and recycling industries
• Strong understanding of hydraulic and electrical schematics
• Good mechanical aptitude and common sense to problem solve efficiently
• Strong communication skills with a focus on customer satisfaction
• Computer literate with basic Word, Excel and Outlook experience
• Self-motivation with a desire to achieve results
• A Heavy Rigid Truck Licence is preferred
