The Role

We are looking for a full time Workshop Supervisor to provide clear direction and leadership to a group of multi-skilled tradespeople in our modern facility in Maryland. You will be responsible for supervising tasks associated with a multi-disciplined Machine & Fabrication shop, and also supporting planning and sales to best serve our customers.

This role is an opportunity to be involved in an exciting, fast paced area of our expanding business. The successful applicant will have strong leadership and well-developed communication skills to work within a dynamic environment.

Critical Tasks

  • Supervising a multi-skilled team, including performance management, safety performance, workflow management and task execution
  • Working closely with planning team, in planning and scheduling of work and assisting in the organisation of tooling and parts 
  • Using M1 (ERP) for workflow management to execute planned production activities
  • Ensuring all workshop activities are completed safely and meet the agreed production schedule deadlines
  • Driving and promoting a strong safety culture through safety leadership

 About you

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

  • A relevant Mechanical Trade Qualification
  • Previous experience in a coordination/supervision role within a multi-disciplined manufacturing / production environment
  • Strong problem solving skills associated with day to day operational issues associated with a multi-disciplined manufacturing / production environment (the team will look to you for answers)
  • Strong commitment to quality and the ability to liaise directly with Customers, interpret and understand technical requirements
  • The ability to make important decisions during pressure situations
  • Strong team member with excellent communication skills
  • Previous exposure to ERP work management process

Additional skills that would be highly regarded:

  • Competency on all aspects of general & precision machining on a range of CNC and manual machine tools
  • Previous exposure to M1
  • Previous rail industry experience 
  • Previous experience in lean
