Howard Porter (since 1936) is still to this day building quality transport equipment for the transportation, mining, and resources industries. Such equipment includes a wide range of trucks and trailers, tippers, low loaders, dollies, flat tops, skels and extendables for the Australian market, and also offer a comprehensive repairs and modifications service.
 

The Company is currently seeking experienced fitters with good knowledge of brakes, hydraulics, and auto electrics. Located at our manufacturing workshop in Spearwood WA, the successful persons will be required to carry out a range of mixed fitting related tasks on new heavy vehicles (truck trailers) and related equipment.

Reporting to the area supervisor the successful person is expected to engage in a range of tasks that may include;

Hydraulics:

• Fit hydraulic cylinders, hydraulic hoses and hydraulic fittings to semi tipping trailers
• Make hydraulic hoses and hydraulic pipes and fit to equipment
• Fit hydraulic cylinders, PTO, pump, valves, hoses and fittings to new/ used trucks
• Fit pneumatic brake kits to semi trailers. Air tanks, brake valves, brake boosters, air hose's and fittings
• Test hydraulic and brake systems on trucks and trailers for correct operation.

Auto Electrics:

• Fit electrical harness, lights, plugs and sockets to new semi trailers
• Fit cab switch controls and wiring to truck dashboard to operate tipping equipment and accessories.
• Fit lights and electrics to new truck bodies
• Diagnose, fault find and repair electrical problems to semi trailers.

Welding

• General welding and fabricating.

It is beneficial that the successful candidate have;

• Relevant trade qualification,
• Have sound knowledge of heavy vehicles and/or plant equipment,
• Have good knowledge hydraulic & automotive electrical systems,
• Good knowledge of welding and fabricating experience,
• The ability to diagnose faults, generate solutions and work semi autonomously,
• Have the ability to learn correct procedures & processes,
• Good working knowledge of OS&H and Environmental practices

Howard Porter is located in Spearwood W.A and offers above Award rates and conditions and, the opportunity to work in a supportive team environment. Overtime is currently available and usually available from from time to time.
