Your Opportunity
 

We have an exciting fixed term opportunity for you to join our Crush Plant in Footscray, Melbourne as a Plant Electrician. Reporting to the Reliability Excellence Supervisor, you will be responsible for ensuring that electrical plant, machinery and infrastructure operated by Cargill is serviced and maintained to deliver optimal operational reliability, performance and safety.

This position will be at times be required to work on shift as a Relief Operator. As a relief for Plant Operators, the candidate will need to perform all tasks of a Plant Operator, which includes to operate and maintain the seed processing facility in a safe, efficient and result oriented manner.

As an experienced Plant Electrician from a manufacturing environment, you will bring in your well-developed knowledge of working within a hazardous area and be proficient in instrumentation, process control and automation environment (preferably food or beverages).You will be a self-starter with intermediate computing skills and an ability to work independently as well as thrive within a multi-cultural, diverse team.

 
Responsibilities
 

Plant Maintenance: Responsible for electrical service and maintenance of plant and equipment without compromising production quality or quantity. Responsible for the input of work request into CMMS for requested and completed work. Responsible for working out of normal work hours where equipment failure or shutdowns dictate;

Plant operation and coverage: Operate and maintain the seed processing facility in a safe, efficient and result oriented;

Safety Management/ Food Safety: Adhere to work and safety instruction by taking an active role in contributing to building a safety culture and ensure compliance with Cargill’s Safety and Environmental policy. Adhere to processes and procedures, and directions in relation to food safety and quality management;

Administration and Reporting: Accountable for reporting to Maintenance Supervisor stock level of critical spares. Recording and documentation of changes to electrical equipment and wiring, including maintaining Hazardous Area dossier, drawings and equipment history. Keeping up to date CMMS worksheets and equipment history;

Experience and skills
 

Having come from a similar background, you will have:

 
  • Minimum five years’ experience in a manufacturing environment;
  • Experience in working with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), trouble shooting and commissioning;
  • Experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) - troubleshooting, project installation, and commissioning;
  • Experience and proficiency in instrumentation and control, particularly 4-20mA analogue systems;
  • Five years of experience in process control and automation environment (preferably food or beverages);
  • Intermediate computing skills;
  • Competent with pneumatic controls and plant;
  • Skill in fault finding/diagnosis relative to the process industry;
  • Knowledge of materials handling equipment for grain;
  • Proficiency in reading electrical schematics;
  • Competent in selection and use of the correct hand and power tools for the task;
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills;
  • Contribute in a team environment through developing positive working relationships that are based on trust and integrity;
  • Available to attending site after normal working hours as required when equipment failure or shutdowns dictate to ensure continuous production;
 
 
Qualifications
  • Electrical “A” Grade Licence;
  • Electrical Trade Certificate;
  • Process Control and Instrumentation (TAFE or similar);
  • Installation and Maintenance of Electrical Equipment in Hazardous Areas (TAFE or similar);
  • High Voltage Switching Licence (desirable);
  • Hazardous Area certifications;
  • Confined Space Entry;
  • Fork lift Licence;
  • Elevated Work Platform Licence;
