About the role:
We currently have a vacancy for a Maintenance Fitter who will be responsible for ensuring the ongoing maintenance and troubleshooting of all machinery located within our highly decorated mill. With lots of investment being placed into the infrastructure and machinery on site, this is a highly sort after role where your trade qualification and skill set will be highly regarded.
This permanent, full time position reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor and is based at our sawmill located in Bell Bay (approx. 40 minutes out of Launceston). The suitable candidate must be comfortable with shift work across a variety of shifts on a rotating roster.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Installation, modification and upgrading of equipment
- Attending plant breakdowns in an effective and efficient manner
- Test, repair, maintain and monitor mechanical repairs to sawmill plant and machinery
- Analyse areas for machinery improvement whilst maintaining an outstanding level of safety and commitment
- Structural welding and fabrication as required
What you will have:
- Trade Qualification in fitting and turning
- Proven welding experience – MIG/TIG
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in maintaining and analysing Plant breakdowns
- Previous experience within a manufacturing industry (timber highly desirable)
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Excellent planning & prioritising skills
- An eye for detail along with a safety conscious mindset
