Due to the company’s continued and sustained growth we have an exciting new role for a Graduate Archaeologist to join our team or dynamic and highly respected environmental professionals based in our Canberra Office. The position offers an excellent opportunity to acquire and develop a diverse range of professional and technical skills within a supportive team environment within one of the best multidisciplinary consultancies in Australia.
In this role you will:
- Contribute to the successful delivery of a range of archaeological projects through participating in background research, site surveys, excavations, stakeholder consultation and report preparation
- Gain on the job training and mentoring from experienced and respected heritage professionals
- Work with other archaeologists across the business both locally and nationally as well as with current and prospective clients and government and regulatory authorities.
Selection Criteria
Essential
- An honours degree or higher in Aboriginal Archaeology
- Sound communication and time management skills
- Can-do attitude and self-starter initiative as well as a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others
- Advanced computer skills, especially in Microsoft Word and Excel
- An understanding of relevant State and Commonwealth Heritage Legislation
- National Parks and Wildlife Act 1974
- Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999
- Comfortable working in all weather conditions, and sometimes in remote areas
- Ability to work within a budget and meet deadlines
- Physically fit
- Current driver’s licence and demonstrated safe driving record.
Desirable
- Senior First Aid Certificate
- NSW ‘White Card’
- Experience in archaeological surveys and excavations
- Exposure to GIS applications or a demonstrated understanding of spatial data analysis and application
- Member of Australian Association of Consulting Archaeologists.
