About Q-Gen

Q-Gen Cell Therapeutics is a fully integrated facility for translational research within QIMR Berghofer providing GMP manufacturing facilities for translating QIMR Berghofer's clinical research to the bedside.

Capitalising on the expertise of QIMR Berghofer investigators, Q-Gen Cell Therapeutics has a solid track record in adoptive T cell therapies for Phase I and Phase II clinical trials.

Based in Herston, Brisbane and working in close collaboration with clinicians and other research institutes, QIMR Berghofer is the home to more than 600 scientists, students and support staff.


About the Role

The QC Officer position is a full time, fixed term contract role based in Herston, Brisbane reporting to the Quality Control Manager. However, on a day-to-day basis you will work as part of a team and will be under the direction of the Quality Control Supervisor. The Quality Control Officer may also receive direction from the Quality Assurance Manager.

In this role you will complete quality control testing to ensure the effective, efficient and safe manufacture of GMP grade cell therapy products at Q-Gen Cell Therapeutics.


This role will be responsible for the following:

• Perform quality control testing and inspection as per Standard Operating Procedures and in accordance with the quality management system;
• Maintain documentation consistent with Q-Gen quality policies, including accurate and timely completion of all relevant records;
• Perform tracking and archiving of manufacturing and compliance documents;
• Contribute to process improvements, including review of Standard Operating Procedures and Quality Forms ;
• Assist in Quality Assurance activities, as required;
• Assist in validation activities and reporting, as required.

Selection Criteria:

To be considered for this position please submit an application addressing the following selection criteria:

• A Diploma or Degree in Science (Life Science, Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent);
• Previous experience in a Quality Control position within microbiology, cell therapies, pathology, pharmaceutical manufacturing and/or blood services will be highly regarded;
• Experience in a GMP facility is essential;
• Knowledge of contamination control procedures and aseptic techniques;
• Self-motivated and highly organised; able to meet deadlines and deliver multiple competing priorities in a complex and challenging environment;
• Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to complete complex tasks and documentation in a precise and consistent manner as defined in a Standard Operating Procedure;
• Previous experience conducting QC tests such as cell counting, Endotoxin testing, Mycoplasma testing, Immunological testing, raw material testing, stability testing or environmental monitoring is required.
