The company is a leader in the design, manufacture and R&D for a range of building products and other materials. The ongoing success of the business has resulted in the need for a Senior Materials Scientist to be based at their global R&D center in Sydney.
The role:
- Lead materials/formulations development projects (focus on inorganic polymers)
- Work closely with scientists and engineers at the company.
- Plan and implement research projects for the development of advanced materials.
- Lead all technical aspects of project delivery, from concept through to implementation.
- Coach/mentor team members to achieve research objectives and improve capabilities.
- Leading the team in planning and running trials for materials development.
- Strong focus and adherence to the company's health and safety requirements.
The ideal candidate:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemistry or Material Science.
- Strong knowledge of inorganic polymers, cement-based and composite materials.
- 5-10 years relevant experience of R&D planning and development within a manufacturing environment.
- Hands on experience in formulating innovative products from concept development to implementation.
- Self-directed with the ability to effectively mange and deliver on projects with minimal guidance.
- Work effectively within a team of peers, engineers and scientists.
- Safety conscious and comply with the company's safety standards.
- Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
