About the organisation
The Hunter Joint Organisation of Councils (HJO) works directly with the 11 Councils of the Hunter and Central Coast Region to deliver quality support and project outcomes across a diverse range of issues. The Environment Division provides environmental management support, services, and programs to the Councils of the Hunter, and to Central Coast Council.
The Division includes a small team of dedicated staff who work with member councils, consultants, researchers, project partners, agencies and professional networks to design and deliver these regionally focused activities.
About the roles
HJO now have two exciting opportunities for Senior Program Managers to join their organisation on a full-time basis in the Lower Hunter, NSW.
One of these positions will have a focus on waste management within a local government setting, and the other will initially focus on natural resource management/biodiversity conservation. Both Positions will be required to work in a variety of other environmental management thematic areas to support projects, staff and councils to deliver quality outcomes for the Councils and Communities of the region.
Reporting to the Director Environment Division, you will be responsible for assisting the Director and Deputy Director with project management responsibilities, undertaking business development activities to source additional grant funding, and attracting fee-for-service opportunities that will continue to see the division financially resourced.
About you
To be successful in this role, it is key that you hold a tertiary qualification (preferably a Bachelor's degree) in Environmental Management, Health, Science, or equivalent. You will also need significant experience as a Project Manager with demonstrated experience managing consultants and contractors to ensure project outputs are delivered within specified timeframes and budgets.
