The Role
Join the Material & Personal Injury Litigation Team to provide legal advice to Compulsory Third Party insurance claims teams. This is permanent opportunity available for an experienced Lawyer who will be adept at providing insurance advice across a range of matters including CTP, Personal Injury Insurance claims and litigation support.
Key Accountabilities
Reporting to the Manager, Legal Injury (NSW), your responsibilities will cover:
Legal Advice:
- Provide legal advice to Suncorp Insurance Claims, particularly CTP claims.
- Provide advice regarding indemnity, liability, compliance, quantum, apportionment.
- Provide legal advice and support to assist Suncorp transition into the new CTP scheme pursuant to the Motor Accident Injuries Act 2017, Regulations and Motor Accident Guidelines
- Managing Claims Assessment Resolution Service (CARS) Applications including drafting Submissions, attending CARS teleconferences and instructing Counsel
- Advise on the implications of regulatory change and key legal decisions
- Work with approximately 30 other lawyers in the Legal Secretariat with the opportunity to be work collaboratively within other legal areas within Suncorp.
Relationships
- Internal Compulsory Third Party Claims Teams, Business Leaders and L&S teams
- External legal providers, CARS Assessors, Claimant/Plaintiff lawyers, mebers of the NSW Bar Association and external regulatorys (SIRA, APRA, Government officials ets).
Skills & Experience
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
Qualifications:
- Tertiary qualifications in Law – Mandatory
- Current Practicing Certificate – Mandatory
- Admission as a Lawyer in any Australian court – Mandatory
Experience
- 5+ years post admission experience in the areas of Personal Injury Insurance – Preferred
- Experience in managing personal injury claims in NSW and litigation matters – Mandatory
- Experience in the financial services industry, ideally banking or insurance – Desired
- Experience providing legal advice for a listed company - Desired
