FCW Lawyers is a small, but rapidly growing virtual, and predominantly paper-free, law office. Located in Pelham Street, Carlton close to shops and cafes in Lygon Street, the Melbourne Museum and the beautiful Carlton Gardens in Rathdowne Street, and a short tram ride from the city or Parliament Station. Focussed on Workplace, Commercial and Workplace Injury Law, our firm has a vision to challenge conventional wisdom, always provide our staff and clients with the best, and embrace our commitment to have fun, embrace family and embrace the future.

We are situated in a shared office facility that includes a shared Receptionist, however, we do require our own Concierge style services, provided by the Junior Legal Assistant as part of much wider responsibilities, that are necessary due to the rapid expansion of the business. The overall role is made up of three parts, which include:

  1. Junior Legal Assistant to a Principal and a Graduate Lawyer;
  2. Concierge; and
  3. Office Administration.

Key duties include:

  • Preparing letters and legal documents;
  • Filing court documents;
  • Preparing brief to Counsel and other experts;
  • Billing;
  • Greeting clients and other guests (phone & face-to-face);
  • Managing deliveries, couriers and IT assistance;

To be successful in this exciting and broad role, you will:

  • Have 12 months plus legal administration experience;
  • Have a high level of computer literacy in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook email;
  • Possess minimum typing speed of 50 words per minute;
  • Be committed to delivering excellent service, built on attitude, strong interpersonal skills, confidence, and the ability to build rapport with others;
  • Have a very high level of accuracy and attention to detail, with the flexibility to organise and prioritise work independently and deliver within tight deadlines;
  • Have a high degree of diplomacy and discretion and an ability to maintain confidentiality;
  • Have the ability to demonstrate initiative and work well both on your own and within a team environment.
