We have a rare opportunity for you to join the award winning legal team of Winc (formerly Staples) and OfficeMax as Graduate Legal Counsel at our Sydney office. This role will give you a chance to be part of a dynamic, commercial and leading inhouse legal team that is supporting every aspect of a business with annual revenue in excess of $1.3 billion.
Reporting to the General Counsel and Company Secretary, you will help our business teams with the preparation and review of large commercial contracts with some of the major consumer brands in Australia. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Junior Legal Professional to start their career in a global company with great growth opportunities.
We will provide you with professional mentoring and assistance towards legal admissions and memberships.
Some of the things you will work on…
- Supporting internal business teams by reviewing, drafting and negotiating a wide variety of commercial agreements
- Identifying critical deal breaker provisions, and drafting, amending and provide reasoning for our legal position throughout fast-paced negotiations
- Provide advice on sales and purchase agreements
- Advise on marketing-related approvals and matters
- Provide general commercial legal advice
- Support our General Counsel on the management of corporate transactions
- Assist with precedent development and legal process improvements
- Collaborate with business teams to achieve corporate objectives and mitigate unnecessary business risk.
What you need
- Minimum of six months experience working in a law firm or in house legal team
- Previous experience reviewing, drafting and negotiating commercial contracts
- Exposure to corporate, commercial and general commercial law
- Ability to problem solve in a fast-paced environment
- Strong time management and organisational skills.
This is a 12 month contract role initially with view to extend.
