About us
MinterEllison is one of the Asia Pacific's leading law firms. Established in Sydney in 1827, our firm today operates in Australia, Hong Kong, mainland China, Mongolia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom through a network of integrated and associated offices.
Our culture
At MinterEllison, our people are our brand. Every day, every person in our firm plays a vital role in helping clients to resolve disputes, close deals, find solutions, grasp opportunities and create value. We are a friendly and supportive firm that takes pride in our work, our people, our individual and collective achievements, our clients' success, and our strong reputation in the marketplace.
The Intellectual Property team
Our IP lawyers provide sophisticated, practical advice, and skilled handling of complex high-profile litigation. We are particularly experienced in working with global legal teams and coordinating litigation strategy across jurisdictions. Our clients span the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, telco, medical, consumer, wagering, content, agricultural, IT, energy, mining, coatings and manufacturing industries.
Our team is also the only fully integrated patent attorney and patent law practice within an Australian law firm. Our multidisciplinary team includes lawyers with scientific qualifications, registered trade mark attorneys and registered patent attorneys.
As such, we approach all litigious and commercial matters with a deep understanding of the technology involved, along with the practical and legal issues that may arise when seeking to protect the IP rights in that technology.
Your role
A great opportunity currently exists for an experienced IP litigator to join MinterEllison in Melbourne. In this role you will work closely with Jonathan Kelp, partner, and senior lawyers in the Intellectual Property team on a broad range of intellectual property and technology matters.
What you need
We welcome applications from experienced lawyers with:
- Strong technical expertise in IP matters, ideally gained in a recognised Australian or international IP practice, including substantial experience in conducting IP litigation;
- A strong client focus and demonstrated ability to form enduring relationships with peers, clients and industry experts;
- Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment;
- Resilience and a commitment to excellence that matches our own; and
- Pride in your work and who you work for.
What we offer
As a lawyer at MinterEllison you'll be working with major multi-national, regional and local companies as well as government organisations and state-owned entities. These clients trust us with their biggest and most complex deals that span jurisdictions and their high stakes disputes. You'll be part of a team, collaborating across practice areas and across offices and working with partners who are recognised as leaders in their fields.
You will enjoy working in an environment where people care about ensuring that you balance your professional goals with your interests outside of work. We offer competitive top tier employment packages and a wide range of employment benefits. Our internal support teams are second to none, and our learning and professional development programs are designed to maximise your legal technical expertise, client and solution focus, business acumen and leadership skills to help you take the next step in your career.
