Our client is a reputable international insurance corporation.

This position is a 12 months fixed term contract covering someone taking maternity leave.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Underwriter is the Person In Charge (PIC Underwriter) for Japanese accounts assigned to this position. The key activities include organizing Risk Engineering audits, communicating Risk, Improvement Recommendations, evaluating risk exposures, deciding the level of retention, rating and premium calculation, communication of policy terms, processing and issuing policy wordings and
associated documents, collection of premiums.
This position is also responsible for the supervision of the Underwriter in Southern Region.
The Senior Underwriter has to actively plan and execute routine visits to the Japanese clients and related intermediaries of whom he/she is the PIC Underwriter to build solid relationship with them in line with the customer intimacy objectives of the organisation.

Responsibilities:

• Underwrite renewal and new business/product (including mid-term  endorsement/cancellation and declaration) for Japanese client assigned by evaluating the risk, arranging risk engineering audits, deciding on retention and arranging facultative reinsurer when required and processing.
• Inviting renewal and requesting renewal information from brokers or clients
• Reviewing client and policy details, terms and conditions (i.e. claims history, coverage type, market trends for risk type) based on proper underwriting practices, underwriting guidelines, treaty requirements and company
  policies.
• Determining re-insurance requirements and arranging facultative R/I with Chief Reinsurance Officer/National Underwriting Manager/Underwriting Operations Manager
• Handling all relevant booking, documentation, electronic filing and internal
  reporting (e.g monthly underwriting monitoring report)
• Ensuring that, where appropriate, risk surveys or re-surveys are carried out and risk improvement recommendations are communicated and followed up
• Credit control/Premium Collections
• Relationship Management

Requirements: 

• Over 5 years of underwriting experience in ISR(Industrial Special Risks) space such as property and liabilities etc
• Japanese business experience ( advantage )
