The role:
The Senior Actuarial Analyst will provide actuarial, analytical and technical support to the General Insurance Valuation team. This will include being the subject matter expert for one or more of the team’s processes and mentoring more junior Analysts. The role will also have the opportunity to help drive Suncorp’s transition to IFRS17.
Key accountabilities will include but not be limited to:
- Provision of actuarial, analytical and technical support to the Valuation Actuary, General Insurance Valuation for their product line including:
- Valuations and reporting: Half-yearly/quarterly valuations, supplementary analysis, development of reporting and self-service tools, presentation of results
- Forecast and Business Planning support: Forecasting, budget and business planning, prospective profitability
- Actuarial, analytical and technical support includes:
- Data preparation, validation and analysis;
- Design or assessment of the reasonableness and suitability of models and results prepared;
- Documentation of processes, analysis and investigations undertaken;
- Preparation of reports to present results.
- Work collaboratively with teams across the business to drive the implementation of IFRS17 and optimise business outcomes.
The ideal candidate will possess the following experience, skills and qualifications:
- Experience working as an Actuarial Analyst or Senior Actuarial Analyst in a general insurance actuarial role(s) in a developed market.
- A relevant degree in Actuarial Studies, Statistics, Commerce or related field.
- Studying towards Fellowship of the Actuaries Institute of Australia or equivalent international body.
- Experience of spreadsheet modelling (Excel) and data extraction (SQL or SAS).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to understand the broader context of work.
- Work as a team member and communicate effectively (oral & written).
