The Role

To support the development and delivery of new business and retention product strategies across the Commercial Direct portfolio and contribute to the Product & Underwriting team in delivering retention, growth and technically complex underwriting activities. The variety in your role will include:

•supporting the delivery of the underwriting and product strategies in order to deliver the overall Guild Group and GIL strategic plan

•collaborating  with and seeking input from specialist functions and others as required, to maximise performance outcomes

•contributing to the core market portfolio health performance reviews which includes the design and implementation of product specific initiatives

•developing requirements and implementation of underwriting aspects for key market scheme renewals which includes the review and enhancement of acceptance criteria, terms and conditions and pricing

•ensuring policy wordings are tailored to key markets including collaborating with portfolio managers in policy drafting and supporting endorsement clauses

•providing technical underwriting support of new business opportunities including assessment against developed acceptance criteria, determining terms and conditions and pricing recommendations

•collaborating with the Portfolio Management and Analytics teams to design and develop pricing strategies for key markets

•producing robust and meaningful analysis of product performance for decision making, including:  monitoring performance and profitability

•providing underwriting support to the Referral team on complex issues of policy acceptance, pricing, terms and conditions, policy wording, interpretation and intent

•ensuring compliance with regulatory regimes, and adhere to the ‘no surprises’ rule

•providing technical underwriting input to organisational projects as required

About You

To be successful in this role you will have proven underwriting experience in either/or professional indemnity, casualty, management liability and general insurance with an undergraduate degree in related discipline and FSRA – ANZIIF Tier 1 being highly desirable. In addition your strong team focus coupled with your proven capacity to undertake complex numerical analysis for strategic decision making, will be key selection criteria.
