Smithfield Village Early Learning Centre is a purpose built centre, which offers a wide range of natural play spaces for the children.

Smithfield Village provides opportunities for the children to learn about their environment and sustainable practices including "Garden World" where we grow our own fresh produce including fruit, vegetables and herbs. The produce is harvested and are used in the freshly made meals prepared by the chef daily.

We recycle our scraps, deposited into the compost bins, worm farms and the animals.

This position is available now.

Suitable Applicants must be able to meet the following criteria:

1. Certificate in Food Handling.
2. First Aid and CPR.
3. Hold a current blue card or willing to apply for one.
4. Ability to be flexible.
5. Ability to work well in a team with good communication skills.
6. Experience working in a kitchen for a large group of people.
7. Experience  in assisting in developing a fresh & inviting menu plan in partnerships with the  Head chef, families and staff that encompass diverse cultural, nutritional & dietary requirements.

Successful Applicant

1. Sound knowledge of food safe practices.
2. Works well in a team environment
3. Knowledge  of food safety regulations and food safety program.
4. 37.5 hours per week.
5. Highly organised
6. Good quality hygiene practices, ability to keep the kitchen clean.
7. Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
8. Ability to step up into the  Head Chef roles when required. Ability to cook and prepare meals according to the menu and requirements of the children.
