Roles don’t come along like this very often! Looking for work life balance? The Mordialloc Surf Life Saving Club has recently opened new clubrooms with outstanding hospitality facilities. It is one of the most picturesque Bayside venues in Melbourne. There is now a wonderful new facility requiring someone to lead their food and beverage enterprise. 

We are looking for a passionate and experienced hospitality all-rounder with a sound knowledge of food and beverage operations. You will need to be able to build, train and lead a team to support you in setting up the venue. The role involves the full aspects of venue operating, including mentoring your team.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities include  (but not limited to):

  • Day to day provision of hospitality services to members
  • Selling and execution of functions and events & driving new external revenue
  • Staff management, training and rostering
  • Development of menus
  • Liaising with external contractors as required for security and cleaning
  • Financial management, including labour cost and COGS control
  • Inventory management
  • Supplier management
  • Ensuring food safety and liquor licencing requirements are met
  • OHS officer for the Club 

The successful applicant is likely to have the following:

  • A friendly and professional demeanour
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Previous experience working in a hospitality management role
  • Sales and marketing experience
  • Financial knowledge
  • Work experience and/or knowledge of member Club operations preferred
  • High personal standards and leadership qualities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively
  • Willingness to work weekends and nights as required
  • First aid certificate, RSA and working with children certificates essential

Hours will vary, but it is estimated you will be required to work between 25-30 hours a week, with a variety of weekday and weekend hours involved. 

The role reports to the Surf Life Saving Club Committee.
