Our company is a national leader in tourism. We specialise in group travel for clients from Europe. We have more than 20 years experience in our field and are well resourced, well organised and work in a small friendly professional team. In the last 3 years we have experienced strong growth, doubling our business.
The role is full time but offers some flexibility in time management to allow for individual circumstances. Our office is in North Sydney CBD and easily reached by public transport. The role involves no sales. All our team members enjoy working independently and take responsibility for their work. We pay above the industry average and team members very rarely leave ( unless they go travelling).
We are looking for an intelligent, responsible person with an eye for detail who can work to deadlines without getting flustered. It would be great to find an experienced group tour operator, however it is more important for us to have the right person rather than the right skills. Training will be provided.
The successful candidate will report to the team leader. The role includes the following main duties:
Tour Preparation: following a set itinerary, prepare booking schedules and book hotels, buses, trains and airlines a year in advance. Enter incoming bookings into he operating system, amend and change tour set up as need be, prepare all documents for service providers such as hotels, airlines bus companies, as well as tour guides and clients ahead of tour start.
Tour Operation: while tours are running, take calls from providers, guides and clients, deal with issues as they arise (lost passports, cyclones, food allergies...). At tour end assist accountant to clear queries on incoming invoices, assess feedback forms and talk about service issues with providers.
Skills and experience: Applicants need to be focused and work well to deadlines. We look for a team player with good computer skills in word, excel, email and internet. Half of all transactions are done in specialised software developed for the tourism industry called tourplan. Being familiar with tourplan is an advantage.
The position is for either our German or the UK market. While a sound knowledge of German is an advantage, it is not essential.
The initial salary will be set to match the applicant's experience and skills. Improved output will be rewarded. We conduct annual salary reviews.
