About the business and the role

We are seeking an experienced Cook/ Chef to join our Catering Team at Yallambee Lodge, a 106 bed age care facility located in West Gosford. Evergreen Life Care is offering an opportunity to work under the direction of Chef Manager to help with daily kitchen operations and work along with our fantastic Catering team to deliver an outstanding customer service to our residents.

Job tasks and responsibilities

• Preparation of fresh meals, adherence to service times, continuous consistency with quality of food
• Cooking nutritious home-style meals, including hot lunches, soup, light dinner, fresh baked desserts and morning/afternoon tea
• Training provided if required in understanding of special diets including allergies and texture modified meals
• Ability to follow kitchen hygiene, HACCP & food safety practices
• Co-ordinate with Chef Manager for ordering and input on continuous menu improvement
• Work as Kitchen Hand/ Cook as and when required

Skills and experience

• Certificate III in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery), Food Safety Supervisor Course, Food Handling & Food Safety Certificate (HACCP)
• Previous cooking experience in Café, Aged Care Facility (highly advantageous) and recognised Restaurants
• Previous working experience in a busy kitchen
• Work under Chef Manager, take direction and follow instruction
• Willingness to work alone and as a team to continually improve catering experience in our facility
• Basic understanding of dietary needs, allergens, textured and modified diets (training provided) Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage Kitchen Hand staff when cooking
• Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal
• A current national criminal record check
