Blue Star Catering has been successfully catering in Newcastle and the Hunter for over 20 years. Our flagship venues being Harbourviews at Queens Wharf and Fort Scratchley with the additional arm of offsite catering with no event being out of reach.

This role will represent and drive the brand of Blue Star for Harbourview and Fort Scratchley through ongoing continual success of satisfied clients, exemplary execution of every event and the drive to market our brand and product in the region whilst thinking and marketing outside of the 'function and events' box.  

Reporting to the General Manager you will be responsible for working directly with the Executive Chef, Kitchen and Events team of professionals to ensure the successful execution of all events of Blue Star. 

You will have a partnership with the Executive Chef to ensure seamless delivery of the event each time with excellent communication planning and recap of the event. 

As this is a hands on operational role, you will ensure all aspects of the venues, team and facilities are always well equipped and the communication for setup as per the client requests are spot on and exceed their expectations every time. 

Believe in and lead your people 

Experience in training communicating mentoring and leading a team to deliver the professional standards expected of the Venue and being able to address and improve when a situation is not meeting these standards. 

Financial experience

You will be responsible for management of all rostering, forecasting staff levels through peak and off peak periods and maintaining financial labour targets and having a keen eye for managing costs. 

Creative business savvy 

We are seeking a business savvy individual, who can see opportunities and drive them to fruition. We want someone who makes it their own and can see the big picture whilst having an eye for detail, a flair for creativity and ensuring that all finer details are accomplished to give the WOW factor. 

Some essential requirements;

  • Min 4 years experience in a similar senior events management responsible role. 
  • Experience in planning and logistics for the execution and liquor licensing for events on and offsite. 
  • Dedicated to creating the perfect memories for your clients. 
  • Polished professional people person with confidence in believing your team and the business as the best venue product and experience on offer. 
  • Current RSA 
  • Good understanding of food, food safety, WHS and liquor laws.

You will represent the business and the execution of all major events including conferences, weddings, multi day events and offsite catering, which requires weekends and flexibility.
