Avondale is a private Golf Club tucked away in a hidden enclave on Sydney’s North Shore.

The magnificent 18 hole Group 1 course (6,110m from the Championship Plates) was crafted in 1926 by Australian designer Eric Apperly and has been refreshed by Ross Watson and Craig Parry.  Avondale is ranked Number 58 in the 2018 Golf Digest list of Australia's top 100 golf courses.

Avondale's Clubhouse, built circa 1927, has a beautiful bushland outlook. Recently renovated throughout, the picturesque white gabled Clubhouse is heritage listed and provides the perfect venue for functions and events due to its inviting, elegant decor and its setting within the course. The clubhouse features flexible event spaces which can accommodate from as few as 10 up to 300 people at your event. Every room has an elegant, warm atmosphere, looking out on to manicured gardens or the course.

Now seeking a Commis / Demi Chef to join the kitchen team and work closely with the Head Chef and Sous Chef to provide dining and Functions for Members. Now is the perfect time to join the team and bring your creativity and fresh ideas, with a brand-new kitchen just completed.

Responsibilities for this role will include:

  • Working with the Head Chef with all kitchen operations
  • Ensuring high standards of cleanliness & hygiene
  • Maintaining the Food Safety Program
  • Maintaining efficient stock handling and rotation practises

The successful applicant will:

  • Have solid experience in a functions style catering operation (at least 1 year) and relevant qualifications
  • Be focused on producing high quality food and a commitment to the provision of service excellence
  • The ability and willingness to communicate in a positive and courteous manner at all times
  • The drive and dedication to perform at or above organisation and industry standards at all times
  • Have good communication and organisational skills
  • Be able to work in a high volume environment
  • Hold a current food hygiene and safety certificate
  • Have creativity and be able to bring new ideas and energy to our team
  • Have the drive to develop your own skills and career
  • A flexible approach to your roster and the ability to work across a range of shifts (days/nights/weekends)
