Your part-time role
Good nutrition is essential to Army morale and effectiveness. That's why our cooks are some of the most important people in the Service. Right now we're recruiting Cooks in a Reserve capacity to supplement our full-time catering resources.
As a Cook in the Army Reserve good nutrition and hygiene will be your highest priorities as you make sure your colleagues are both well fed and fit for duty. Your training will cover food planning and preparation from entrée to dessert, and your kitchen could be anywhere from an Army base to a temporary facility in the field.
This is a worthwhile and rewarding part-time role that can be structured to fit in with your existing work commitments. Can you think of a more worthwhile way to spend a few weekends a year or periods off work?

Commitment
- Initial 35-day military training course
- 14-day catering courses
- Serve between 20 and 100 days each year (at least 50 days preferred)
- Fit service around your existing work and family commitments
The Army provides special resources to help you approach your employer about your ambition to serve as a Reservist.

- Posting to an Army unit close to where you live
Pay
- Fully-paid training
- Once trained, starting package $159.22 per day tax free
- Pay increases with rank and experience
Entry Requirements
- At least 17 years of age
- Australian Citizen
- Year 10 completion with passes in English and Mathematics
