Nature and scope of positions

Assistant Manager, Senior Groundsperson

As part of the management team, develop and maintain processes and procedures that benefit Kooljaman. Take part in planning, discussions, internal and external meetings as required.

Work as a pivotal member of the grounds and garden team to ensure that all areas of Kooljaman are presented to visitors in a pristine condition throughout the year.

Plan and implement bush and garden maintenance to ensure, amenity, functionality, fire prevention and safety.

Work as part of the management team to ensure maintenance and repair scheduling of Kooljaman's vehicle fleet, small machinery, power/water infrastructure and airstrip.

Selection Criteria:

Qualifications/experience

  • Mechanical qualifications or experience
  • Boat and Small motor experience
  • Grounds-keeping or landscaping experience in harsh environments
  • Skipper's ticket or boating experience
  • Welding
  • General handyperson skills
  • Staff co-ordination, mentoring and supervision experience
  • Basic computer skills
  • Remote living experience
  • Current clean driver's licence
  • Senior First Aid

Responsibilities

  • Through participation in and delegation of tasks;  ensure work areas, vehicles, grounds and gardens are maintained and well presented  throughout the year with particular attention given to guest amenity.
  • Undertake and delegate maintenance on vehicles, generators, bores, solar plant and general equipment.
  • Use and train staff to use, pesticides and herbicides in accordance with OH&S requirements. Keep up to date records of all chemicals used and the locations applied.
  • Ensure at all times health and safety regulations are adhered to. Adopt safe work practices that protect you, colleagues and visitors. Ensure that all statutory and legal obligations are met at work.
  • Ensure all interactions with colleagues and visitors alike are within the Dignity at Work policy and that all policies and procedures in relation to Kooljaman are adhered to.
  • On call 3 nights per week
  • Contribute to the monthly management report by maintaining communication, documentation and records.
  • Other duties as directed by board and management.

Assistant Manager, Senior Accounts/Reception Supervisor

As part of the management team, develop and maintain processes and procedures that benefit Kooljaman. Take part in planning, discussions, internal and external meetings as required.

Work as a pivotal member of the reception and reservations team to ensure that all visitors to Kooljaman have a positive experience from enquiry to checkout.

Maintain accounts receivable and payable, daily cash receipts, banking, inventory ordering  and general processing to a professional standard.

Supervise and mentor the reservations and reception team to ensure effective operation of the front office. 

Selection Criteria:

Qualifications/experience

  • Business/Accounts qualifications or significant experience with MYOB Premier
  • Hospitality experience in a high pressure environment
  • Experience co-ordinating staff and supervising teams with diverse abilities
  • ResExpert/Digitalrez experience – or experience with a similar booking system.
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Minute taking skills and a general understanding of meeting processes and procedures
  • Remote living experience
  • Current clean driver's licence
  • Senior First Aid

Responsibilities

  • Through participation in and delegation of tasks;  ensure clients/account holders/tour operators and travel agents are responded to in a timely and appropriate way
  • Undertake the processing of accounts receivable and payable, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Use and train staff to use, Rez Expert.
  • Maintain inventory and ensure retail areas reflect positively on the business of Kooljaman
  • Liaise with kitchen staff around tour and guest requirements
  • Ensure at all times health and safety regulations are adhered to. Adopt safe work practices that protect you, colleagues and visitors. Ensure that all statutory and legal obligations are met at work.
  • Ensure all interactions with colleagues and visitors alike are within the Dignity at Work policy and that all policies and procedures in relation to Kooljaman are adhered to.
  • Contribute to the monthly management report by maintaining communication, documentation and records.
  • Take and prepare Board meeting minutes for distribution.
  • On call 3 nights per week
  • Other duties as directed by board and management.

Additional details

As a couple you will ideally have management or assistant management experience. You will be required to learn and know the Manager's duties and cover these duties on days off and any absences (holidays, meetings in Broome).

Combined salary package includes low rent accommodation in a furnished one bedroom cottage, Superannuation Salary Sacrifice if desired, and some work required visits to Broome.

Sorry no pets and we have no accommodation or schooling provisions for children. This is an all year round position and you will need a four wheel drive to access Kooljaman.

A National Police Certificate will be required at commencement.
