Purpose of Position

Responsible for the safe, timely performance of high quality Paediatric Radiology procedures that are delivered efficiently in a coordinated manner, most appropriately meeting the requirements of the patient and referrer within the scope of practice granted by the Hunter New England Health (HNEH) Medical and Dental Appointments Advisory Committee. The role includes:

  • Consultative, diagnostic, procedural, specialty services as determined and required by HNEH
  • Undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, research and supervision
  • Participation in quality activities, professional development and continuing education

Hunter New England Imaging Service is seeking a dynamic consultant in Paediatric Radiology to join their service. You will be committed to providing high quality compassionate medical care while effectively collaborating with fellow colleagues to provide the best possible service that engenders high levels of patient satisfaction and experience. You will be committed to delivering excellent clinical care to our patients - every patient, every time.

You will be responsible for consultative, diagnostic and procedural paediatric radiology services. You will be involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, research and supervision and will also participate in quality activities, professional development and continuing education.

Hunter New England Imaging comprises of the Divisions of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine which together provide a complete range of imaging modalities, including Nuclear Medicine, General Radiology, Fluoroscopy, Tomography, Angiography and Interventional Procedures, MRI and Ultrasound.

Selection Criteria

Senior Medical Officer with current authority to practice with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists or equivalent as provided for in the Staff Specialist's State Award Appropriate experience in Paediatric Radiology which may include previous fellowship experience Commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate training, education and research, and a commitment to innovative service development, customer focused service and ongoing continuing professional development Demonstrated ability to provide high quality compassionate medical care as evidenced by recent practice experience in working congenially and collaboratively as both a leader and member of a multidisciplinary team, and as a provider of services that engender high levels of patient satisfaction and experience Demonstrated ability to work with teams to support and optimise their capacity to deliver services Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research (including experience with clinical research/clinical trials) Demonstrated ability to actively seek out improvements to service delivery, initiating change and consulting with those affected by the changes; allocating resources and proactively managing potential conflicts
