About the Department
The Plastics and Reconstructive Surgery Unit at SVHM, has been a leader in the microsurgical reconstruction of both traumatic and malignant defects throughout the body, as well as elective and acute hand surgery. It is aligned closely with the O'Brien Institute which has offered reconstructive laboratory research fellowships successfully for many years.
About the Role
St. Vincent’s Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery department is currently seeking applications from suitably qualified medical practitioners for a full time fixed term position of a Plastic and Reconstructive Fellow for 12 months duration commencing 1st July 2019.
Duties
The Plastic and Reconstructive Fellowship will include exposure to a wide spectrum of reconstructive surgery including: breast, sarcoma, head and neck, skin malignancy, hand surgery and maxillofacial surgery. Clinical management of patients will be under the care and direction of the Director of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. The successful applicant will be expected to undertake a clinical research project and be involved in undergraduate and post-graduate medical teaching and mentoring.
Skills, Experience & Qualification
- MBBS or equivalent
- FRACS Part II or equivalent
- Ability and experience working in an interdisciplinary team
- Excellent skills and competencies as a clinician and excellent communication skills with patients, their families and ones’ colleagues
- Teaching commitment and skills in the areas of undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing medical education
- Ongoing involvement with and encouragement of research
