About the Company

Black Swan Health Ltd is the lead agency selected in WA to establish a new program of youth focused clinical services, headspace Youth Early Psychosis Program (hYEPP).  

hYEPP is an innovative initiative funded by the Australian Government (Department of Health) designed to ensure there is an early intervention and responsive, and recovery focused care for young people aged 12 – 25 years who are experiencing a first episode of psychosis or at ultra-high risk of experiencing psychosis.

About the Role

The Senior Psychologist is responsible for the oversight of the psychological interventions component within the hYEPP service. They will support case managers and other clinical staff in all teams with the provision of psychological interventions, particularly Cognitive Behavior Therapy. In addition they will provide direct treatment with more complex cases; and provide consultation, supervision, and training of hYEPP clinicians.

The position will also provide some psychological treatment and case management with a caseload.

Essential:

  1. Registration as a Psychologist under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law Act (2009) and full Membership with AHPRA
  2. Demonstrated skills in staff supervision and proven ability to contribute to clinical leadership in a multidisciplinary team
  3. Substantial experience in clinical practice within the mental health field, with specific experience providing psychological and therapeutic treatments for psychotic disorders, including treatment of persistent psychotic symptoms
  4. A high level of interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal), problem solving and negotiation skills and demonstrated ability to consult, liaise and negotiate with team members, other professionals and outside agencies
  5. Demonstrated ability to collaboratively plan and coordinate individualised psychological interventions
  6. Demonstrated commitment to engage in and provide clinical supervision, consultation, education, training and ongoing professional development and encourage a culture of learning
  7. Proven ability to work both autonomously as well as collaboratively  with other clinicians

Desirable:

  1. Knowledge of relevant legislation such as the Mental Health Act and the Children, Youth and  Families Act and other relevant legislation
  2. Sound knowledge of and, ideally, experience in working with young people who have experienced a first episode psychosis and their families in both a case management and therapeutic role
  3. Ability  to  use  relevant  Information  Technology  and  electronic  recording systems and data management tool
  4. Registration as a Clinical Psychologist under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law Act (2009).
  5. Registration to practice as a Clinical Supervisor with the Psychology Board of Australia.
