St Vincent’s is proud of its International reputation for delivery of Mental Health Services and the use of the ‘Strengths Model’ and its principles and includes a 44 bed adult acute inpatient , Continuing Care Teams; a Crisis Assessment Team, EDMH, Triage and PACER teams a PARC and Community Care Unit as well as state-wide services and support services.



About the Role
Reporting to the Director of Nursing, the Manager, Crisis, Assessment and Treatment Service (CATS) will provide leadership and operational management of the Crisis Team, EDMH, Triage and PACER teams.

The positon will have financial, human resource management and quality oversight for their portfolio and this role is a critical in ensuring that our community and emergency based clinical services are responsive, evidence based and consumer focused.

Duties

  • Manage the daily operations of the Crisis Assessment Team, Emergency Department Mental Health Team, Psychiatric Triage and PACER (CATS) through the effective co-ordination of resources in order to achieve optimal service delivery within a recovery framework
  • Develop and maintain linkages to ensure optimal continuity of care between community mental health services, bed based services and other parts of the service
  • Ensure the mental health clinicians reporting to this role operate in accordance with high clinical standards within a recovery framework and other relevant standards such as professional, service and quality standards
  • Provide leadership and participation in relevant service committees and working groups, and chair meetings, as required or directed
  • Identify service development issues and implement service plans and lead change, in consultation with staff



Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Degree in a mental health discipline essential (Registered Nurse Division 1 or 3, Registered Clinical Psychologist, Occupational Therapist or Social Worker) and registered with APHRA or AASW (whichever relevant)
  • Post-graduate qualifications in management or health administration or progress toward such qualifications is desirable
  • Previous management experience at a senior level, is preferred



Key Focus and Duties

  • Leads the day-to-day management of the team, including overseeing direct clinical care
  • Liaises with the Clinical Director of CATS to ensure that consumers are provided high quality recovery oriented treatment and care that meets relevant standards such as professional service and quality standards
  • Communicates with all relevant nursing, medical, allied health and administrative staff and other key stakeholders to achieve operational requirements and activity targets are achieved as per DHHS guidelines
  • Ensures staff are familiar with relevant legislation, policy and DHHS guidelines
  • Have a clear awareness of the National Access Emergency Targets (NEAT) and implement strategies to support patient flow
  • Provides leadership and support for organisational change, quality improvement and strategic development
  • Develops and maintains effective linkages to ensure optimal continuity of care between other parts of the service including Community Teams, Emergency Department, Police, housing and other area mental health services.
  • Ensures availability and access to supervision for all nursing and allied health staff
  • Actively participates in the growth and development of all new staff
  • Acts as a resource person and role model to all staff and promotes excellent morale and a positive attitude to change within the service
  • Supports placements within the team to support development of the future workforce
