Act for Kids is a prominent provider of free prevention, professional therapy and support services for children who have suffered abuse and support for families at risk. With over 25 centres nationally, we have supported thousands of children and their families for 30 years. In 2016 - 2017 we helped over 34,324 Australians; a 58% increase from the year before.
Our unique multidisciplinary teams provide integrated therapy, sexual abuse counselling, safe houses in remote Indigenous communities, information, advice and referral services, intensive family support and early learning centres designed for children with additional development needs to ensure we set them up for success at school.
About the job.....
We are looking for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join the Act for Kids team in our office on the JCU Campus. This position is full-time fixed-term until 31 December 2018.
Responsibilities:
- Providing an outstanding specialist intervention service to children, young people and their families who are referred to the Townsville Therapy & Education Services
- Encouraging and strengthening supportive relationships with adult caregivers.
- Enhancing therapeutic and psychosocial outcomes for children and young people impacted by trauma.
- Working with Act for Kids staff members, other professionals and agencies to enhance client outcomes.

About you....
- A tertiary qualification in occupational therapy.
- National registration as applicable to the profession is essential and membership of a relevant professional body is desirable.
- At least two years’ experience working with children, young people and their families who have been impacted by trauma or experienced abuse and neglect, or at least five years’ experience working in similar roles.
- Experience providing individual and group therapy to children, young people and their families.
- Clinical and therapeutic understanding of the impacts of trauma on child and family functioning and knowledge of current trauma treatment trends.

About the pay...
This position is classified Level 6 under the SCHCADS award. The salary range is $80,676 - $83,173 per annum (above award, pro-rata for part-time) plus 9.5% superannuation. In addition, Act for Kids has an excellent salary packaging program, which offers team members the opportunity to significantly increase their take home pay.
