We require an experienced medical secretary to work in a busy consultant physician's rooms in a private hospital-based setting. The position is part-time Monday to Wednesday 8.30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The successful candidate will have extensive experience, communication and organisation skills, and show initiative, empathy, and attention to detail.
Essential requirements include:
- previous medical receptionist experience in specialist rooms and ability to work autonomously;
- experience in billing, account reconciliation, follow-up of outstanding accounts and discrepancy investigations;
- familiarity with MS Office;
- experience in liaising with other specialists rooms to make procedure bookings;
- good audiotyping skills.
Duties will include:
- greeting patients;
- providing professional and courteous communication to patients and medical professionals;
- answering telephone calls and enquiries;
- scheduling and confirming patient appointments;
- data entry of information and hard copy filing;
- billing patients, health funds, Medicare, Workcover and TAC;
- responding to account enquiries and chasing up outstanding accounts;
- some audiotyping of medical correspondence;
- booking hospitalisations and interventional procedures.
