Your new company
This highly regarded federal government service is responsible for the delivery of mental health services for veteran and defence force communities and their families. You will be working as part of an Australian wide team who provide face to face counselling, telephone based support and case management to individuals and their families. You would be joining a large team of passionate and highly professional specialist staff, within a supportive working environment which provides clinical supervision, professional development opportunities and peer and management support.
Your new role
Your new position of Community Engagement Coordinator will require you to engage with both internal and external stakeholders to improve and develop the capacity to support and respond to the needs of veterans and current defence force members who are at risk and require support. The goal of the position is to improve the quality of life and wellness of the defence force community through community engagement, case management and raised awareness. The position will require you to have the ability to initiate, develop and maintain partnerships with internal and external service providers. You will also be required to provide direct support to veterans and families using a strengths based approach.
You will be required to evaluate the success of the program and be able to set outcomes and set up strategies to ensure they are achieved. You will be responsible for assessing the current model and making recommendations to improve community development moving forward. You will be comfortable provisioning clinical services, including intake, complex case management, case coordination, and facilitation of group programs. You will be extremely competent and delivering presentations and be a prominent ambassador for change in the defence force community. You will on occasion be required to travel to regional areas which could involve overnight stays.
This Full Time position is based in Sydney CBD and is on a 2 year contact
What you'll need to succeed
- You must be a fully AHPRA registered Psychologist with a high level of clinical experience or a Social Worker with a University Qualification and eligibility for membership of the AASW
- Accreditation as a Mental Health Social Worker is strongly preferred if you do not currently hold this a willingness to work towards the accreditation is required
- You will have an understanding of the issues faces by military veterans and their families
- You will have many years of experience providing a range of evidence based clinical interventions promoting positive mental health
- You will have strong clinical intervention skills and be competent with documentation and management of a large and diverse work load
- You must have management experience or have worked in a coordinator capacity
- You must have a NSW Drivers License and Eligibility and a willingness to obtain a Working with Children Check
