CareFlight is an Australian not-for-profit aeromedical organisation. Our mission is to save lives, speed recovery and serve the community.
We operate from locations in NSW, northern WA and the Top End of the NT. Our specially trained doctors, nurses and paramedics use helicopters, aeroplanes, medi-jets and road ambulances to bring a hospital level of care to over 5,000 patients each year. We also deploy medical professionals to remote oil, gas & mining sites, both onshore and offshore.
The role
We currently have an excellent opportunity for registered nurses with critical care skills to join our Sydney based jet operations with CareFlight International on a casual basis. Key responsibilities will include:
- assisting the medical officer with the assessment and preparation / packaging of the patient for retrieval
- checking all retrieval equipment is available and on line
- communicating the patient's clinical status to the medical director on arrival at the referring hospital should there be are any issues or concerns
- coordinating the transition of the patient from one mode of transport to the next
About you
To be successful in this role you will have the following:
- current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse
- minimum of 5 years’ experience as a registered nurse with a minimum of 4 years’ in emergency/critical care and/or post graduate certification in a critical care specialty
- current certification in ALS/ACLS and/or TNP/TNCC
- physical capability of meeting the challenges of aeromedical practice
- ability to operate in an ‘out of hospital’ environment
- reside within one hour of Sydney Airport
