About the Role
We are seeking a focused and experienced Registered Nurse to join our Hobart Defence Force Recruiting team.  This vacancy is for a Part Time team member to work 15 hours per week.  Days required are Tuesday and Wednesday with the workday commencing at 7.30am and normally finishing at 3.30pm, an earlier finish time will be negotiable for the right applicant.  From time to time shifts will be rostered on a Monday (including Public Holidays) or Friday to cover periods of leave.

This position supports our Medical Officers in medically assessing candidates to determine their suitability for entry into the Australian Defence Force.  This role requires high level interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong relationships as it works as part of a multidisciplinary team including Medical Officers, Administration, Psychology, Recruitment and Military personnel.

Key deliverables of this position include:

  • Conducting pre-employment medicals including; medical history interviews, spirometry, ECGs, various other assessments
  • Maintenance and restocking of nursing rooms
  • Review and successful implementation of systems and procedures
  • Responding effectively and efficiently to client requests
  • Providing sound administrative support and working as an administrator from time to time

As this site forms part of a Region and a wider National team some intra state travel may be required to assist at other sites when needed and is always fully paid.  There is the a recommended on-boarding plan of 3 weeks at four days per week (Monday to Thursday) to fast track training and learning.

Skills and Experience
We are looking for someone who has a sharp eye for detail and has worked with highly confidential and sensitive information.

Confidence in navigating company software and general computer skills is essential for success as our Nurses are responsible for their own administrative functions.  You will have previous experience in a busy environment and be able to demonstrate strong organisational skills, attention to detail, willingness to work as part of a team and flexibility in meeting the changing needs of the business.  Experience in the delivery of pre-employment medicals or working within a Defence or on-base setting would be highly advantageous.

While being a member of a dynamic team applicants must be self motivated, be able to prioritise and multi task and be willing to step up and ensure the centre’s goals are met on a daily and monthly basis. 

To be eligible for this position applicants must have unconditional registration with AHPRA, Australian Citizenship and be willing to undergo the Australian Defence Force (ADF) security clearance process.
