School of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences

The School of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences delivers a range of innovative undergraduate courses, including the only accredited pharmacy course in Western Australia, an AIMS-accredited program in laboratory medicine, and courses in molecular genetics and biotechnology, human biology preclinical and oral health therapy. Our courses combine theoretical, practical and clinical units to provide students a thorough understanding of their chosen field.

Your new role

Clinical placements are integral components of the pharmacy, laboratory medicine and oral health therapy degree programs to allow students to learn through direct implementation of their professional roles in real workplace settings. The focus of the School’s placement program administration is to enhance capacity, assure and improve quality, strengthen governance and ensure students are well supported as they prepare for and complete professional placements.

As the Placement Coordinator you will be responsible for the effective functioning of clinical placements for the various courses within the School of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences, working closely with academics, industry partners and students in the Pharmacy, Laboratory Medicine and Oral Health Therapy courses.

This exciting opportunity will allow you to apply your exceptional interpersonal skills and organisational skills in liaising with a range of functional areas within the school and the university, with academic and professional colleagues, students and industry partners to ensure the timely and accurate completion of placement tasks and processes, including aspects of roster preparation.

You will bring to the role

  • You will use your experience to contribute to the professional clinical education of students in the School of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences.
  • As a Clinical Placement Coordinator, you will work closely with academic staff and industry professionals to ensure students are supported as they develop skills in their preparation to achieve work ready status.
  • An understanding of the scope of practice in clinical environments for the professions of Pharmacy, Laboratory Medicine and Oral Health Therapy will contribute to achieving the expectations of all parties.
  • A high level of interpersonal, oral and written communication skills and computer literacy are essential to effectively perform the administrative and management roles of the position.
  • A degree qualification and relevant experience; or extensive experience coordinating the administrative requirements in a similar role; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Highly developed organisational skills with the ability to prioritise, manage and meet the needs of a large number of stakeholders.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and oral communication skills with the ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Professional written communication skills with the ability to draft a range of correspondence and documentation which is clear and concise.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment in the resolution of day to day issues arising.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as autonomously with limited direction.

The salary ranges presented are those which are contained within the University's Enterprise Agreements; as are the employee benefits which include employer superannuation contribution at the rate of the current Government Superannuation Guarantee amount up to 17 percent, study assistance, a comprehensive salary packaging and wellness programs and flexible and family friendly work practices.
