About the NSW Rural Doctors Network

NSW Rural Doctors Network (RDN) provides support for a high-quality rural medical workforce in NSW. RDN administes a wide range of programs to improve the recruitment and retention of GPs, nurses and allied health professionals in rural and remote NSW; and to increase access to health services for people living in rural areas and Aboriginal communities. RDN’s programs are primarily funded by the Australian Government and the NSW Government. 

The role

This role is an excellent opportunity to work with rural and Aboriginal communities and make a positive impact in health service access. RDN is looking for a capable and motivated Project Officer to join its Mascot-based Outreach Team to support the delivery of medical specialist, nursing and allied health outreach services in NSW and the ACT. The role involves working closely with local and regional stakeholders to implement the Outreach Program cycle including needs identification, service planning and delivery, reporting and quality improvement. Key skills required for this role include stakeholder engagement, verbal and written communication, time management and the use of computers and electronic tools. 

Key responsibilities

  • Working closely with local and regional outreach stakeholders.
  • Contract management of service providers including service planning, delivery and reporting activities.
  • Stakeholder communication and negotiation – internally and externally.
  • Responding to opportunities using evidence to identify and implement solutions.
  • Working collaboratively with teams and staff across the organisation.
  • Undertake planning and quality improvement processes to respond to priority needs and enhance program outcomes.
  • Coordinate local and regional meetings to engage stakeholders, collate input and communicate strategic themes.
  • Administer quarterly service reporting requirements and other contractual deliverable. 

Key selection criteria

  • Experience with stakeholder engagement and relationship management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Strong organisational skills and time management.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilise computers and electronic tools such as the Microsoft suite and databases. 
  • Ability to lead projects and solve problems.
  • An interest in and/or experience with data analysis and quality improvement processes.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience.
  • Current driver’s license and the ability to travel throughout NSW when needed.
  • An understanding of health challenges experienced by people living in rural areas and Aboriginal Australians.
  • Project coordination experience within the healthcare sector is advantageous.
