What you'll be doing
- To provide a tertiary level outpatient occupational therapy service to children and young people aged 0- 18 years old with neurological rehabilitation needs who are patients of BIRP service (Brain Injury Rehabilitation Program).
- To provide patient services to patients accessing the service, including assessment and provision therapuetic interventions
- This position involves working as part of a multidisciplinary team based at Westmead. The position will involve an outreach component, completing home visits, preschool visits and school visits.
- To provide consultative review and occupational therapy assessment of children aged 0-18 who meet the Brain injury service intake criteria. Service provision may at times include therapy appointments, home program development, home, preschool and school visits and consultation with local therapy services.
- All occupational therapists are required to ensure an effective learning environment for all staff and students as well as contribute to the planning and development of the Occupational Therapy department and serviced clinical areas.
- This position is based at Kids Rehab, The Children's Hospital, Westmead.
- All Occupational Therapists may be required to provide relief to other clinical areas and/ or have their position purpose modified to meet the service demands. This includes working at other sites within the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network.
- Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy and AHPRA registration.
- Significant postgraduate occupational therapy experience and knowledge in the assessment and treatment of children with neurological conditions and/or acquired brain injury
- Demonstrated advanced level of clinical skills in upper limb management, equipment prescription, preschool/school based tasks and activities of daily living.
- Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal skills, time management skills and proven success in multidisciplinary team settings.
- Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and evaluation of service delivery improvement activities.
- Drivers Licence
