St Vincent’s Private Hospital Melbourne (SVPHM) is a facility of St Vincent’s Health Australia under the stewardship of Mary Aikenhead Ministries. We are a not for profit Catholic private hospital which operates across four sites at Fitzroy, East Melbourne, Kew and Werribee.
The Services available at East Melbourne hospital include orthopaedic, ear nose and throat, plastic and reconstructive surgery, urology, gynaecology, general surgery, neurosurgery and paediatrics.
Reporting directly to the Nurse Unit Manager of Theatre at St Vincent’s Private Hospital East Melbourne, is seeking an experienced Theatre Technician (Grade 4) to join our team on a full time basis.
The successful applicant will be responsible for;
- Leading a dynamic theatre technician team in conjunction with the Nurse Unit Manager
- Assisting our Surgeons and Nursing Staff with surgical procedures
- Maintenance of theatre equipment
- Assisting in the training, mentoring and assessment of junior staff
- Participating & actively supporting the achievement of the Unit and Organisational KPIs, Mission, Vision & Values.
It is essential that the successful applicant has the following;
- Completion of Certificate III in Health Services Assistance (Operating Theatre Support) from an accredited institution
- Has completed or working towards a Certificate IV in Health Services (Supervision) or equivalent awarded by a registered training organisation
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as Theatre technician Grade 2 who is able to work in all areas of theatre
- Must be able to work with high degree of independence and accountability as the incumbent is often in the mentoring role and assists in assessment of junior staff
- Demonstrates the ability of problem-solving and trouble shooting
- Knowledge and handling of medical equipment (microscopes, operation tables accessories, lasers)
- Highly developed verbal communication skills with the ability to relate to patients and staff
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to meet deadlines work under pressure
- Good negotiation and conflict management skills
