Position Summary:

St Vincent’s is a world leader in the diagnosis and management of diseases of the ear, nose and throat, and the related structures of the head and neck. The St Vincent’s Hospital Voice Laboratory was established in 1977 by the departments of Speech Pathology and Biomedical Engineering to provide instrumental evaluation of the voice. In 1981, the Speech Pathology and ENT Departments founded the St Vincent’s Voice Clinic which was the first of its kind in Australia.

The successful applicants will need to demonstrate the appropriate level of experience and expertise in laryngology to practice within a teaching hospital environment for appointment to the position. The position involves provision of a voice clinic at St. Vincent's Hospital during normal working hours. Registrar supervision and teaching is essential. Promotion of good patient care, and the good reputation of the department and the Hospital are expected.

Non-inpatient services include the attendance of public outpatients and privately-referred non-inpatients under a VMO Standard Licence Agreement (Model A where the PHO bills on the VMO’s behalf) in accordance with NSW Health Guideline GL2009_008

No remuneration is afforded to this position.

Selection Criteria

1. Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia 2. Possess, or be eligible to possess, specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia and obtain a provider number from Medicare to practice 3. Possess Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in Otorhinolaryngology, Head & Neck Surgery or equivalent as provided for in the Health Insurance Act 1997. 4. Demonstrated knowledge, skills and high standards of clinical practice commensurate to experience in laryngology which is appropriate to the requirements of the position 5. Demonstrated expertise in stroboscopy and fibreoptic laryngoscopy, and various surgical procedures for the treatment of voice disorders. 6. Demonstrated leadership skills that support and foster innovation to create a learning culture, with proven ability to improve the quality of services and patient care outcomes 7. Demonstrated ability to provide high quality compassionate medical care as evidenced by recent practice experience in working congenially and collaboratively as both a leader and member of a multidisciplinary team, and as a provider of services that engender high levels of patient satisfaction and experience 8. Demonstrated ongoing contribution to the development, dissemination, and translation of new knowledge and practices commensurate with work in an academic teaching hospital environment
