We are seeking a locum GP for an Aboriginal medical service on the coast of the Northern Territory, in Arnhem Land :

The location:
  
Arnhem Land is wild, spiritual and diverse, with rugged coastlines, remote islands, rivers teeming with fish, lush rainforests, towering escarpments and savanna woodlands. Wildlife is abundant throughout East and West Arnhem Land. There are lots of saltwater crocodiles and the area provides an important conservation habitat for dugongs, nesting turtles and migratory birds.

The traditional owners of Arnhem Land are the Yolngu people, who have occupied the region for at least 60,000 years. This is the land where Australia's most famous musical instrument, the didgeridoo, originated. It’s now also home to wilderness and fishing lodges, and safari tours. 
  
  
Job description:
  
This is a 3 Community GP post.

Hours are from 8am – 5pm Monday to Friday – afterhours call outs are covered by the Nurse on call. The resident doctor is called in if required or as advised by the RMP on call from Darwin.

Royal Darwin Hospital is the back-up for tertiary care, whilst a range of specialists visit the community regularly.

Remote Area Nurses and Aboriginal Health Practitioners are the first respondents’ on-call, with the Medical Officer being called only if required or as advised by the DMO on call.


Essential Criteria: 

• General or Full specialist registration with AHPRA
• Be a permanent resident/citizen of Australia or New Zealand. 
• Experience working in General Practice
