The Provisional Psychologist is a member of an inter-disciplinary team and works with children and young people and their families. The Provisional Psychologist works closely with the other allied health members of the team, preschool and school staff, and parents to develop evidence based interventions that include proactive, targeted and intensive strategies that can be adapted for learning and home contexts. The Provisional Psychologist works under the professional support and direction of the Senior Psychologist and external supervisor.
The primary role of the Provisional Psychologist is to provide a high quality, early intervention response to NDIS participants and their families seeking support. The clinician will have a direct role in the engagement, assessment and coordination of care as well as the facilitation of referral to other community services as appropriate. The clinician will also be required to carry out community engagement and networking to increase community awareness of service availability.
Available position: 25 -38 hours per week
Position includes 5 paid Professional development days.

Key Competencies
Essential
- Approved tertiary qualifications in psychology (Provisional Psychologist with external supervision, assistance in gaining external supervision can be provided to successful candidate).
- Eligibility/Registration (as required) with APS.
- Demonstrated experience working in a clinical environment with young people living with mild to moderate mental health issues including completion of mental health assessments, cognitive behavioural interventions, interpersonal psychotherapy and family-based interventions.
- Proven ability to develop rapport and effective professional relationships with young people, key stakeholders and associated professional organisations.
- High level written and oral communication skills including ability to maintain client records use electronic data systems for reporting and planning.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of contemporary models and methods of supporting young people living with mental illness.
- Experience and ability to work autonomously
- Current Driver's License and own reliable vehicle
- National Police Clearance and Working with Children Check
Special Conditions: The successful applicant will be required to gain a Department for Communities and Social Inclusion (DCSI) child-related employment screening prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every three years before expiry.
