The Hospital

John Flynn Private Hospital is a 334 bed, acute care hospital located at Tugun, which is on the southern end of the Gold Coast, within 5 minutes from the Gold Coast Airport. The hospital provides services to the population of the Gold Coast and the Tweed Coast extending into the NSW Northern Rivers area.

John Flynn provides a wide range of health care services with a 24 hour emergency department, comprehensive cardiac services, general and orthopaedic surgery, cancer services, medical, maternity and paediatrics, renal dialysis, day surgery and rehabilitation services.

John Flynn have a Tier One Contract with the Department of Veteran Affairs and also provide services to the Gold Coast and Tweed Veteran community.

The campus consists of the main hospital building, specialist medical suites, the John Flynn Cancer Centre, and also includes additional services such as radiotherapy (radiation oncology), radiology (x-ray), pathology and a 24 hour pharmacy.

The Opportunity

Health Information Services (HIS) is a busy department responsible for the management of patient medical records. The HIS clerk role requires a motivated individual who can assist in all activities relating to maintaining the Health Information Service in an organized manner.

Essential Criteria

Successful applicants must possess:

  • Experience with Meditech Patient Information Systems (highly desirable)
  • Clerical experience gained in a Hospital / Medical Records setting
  • Excellent communication and computer literacy skills
  • Strong time management skills
  • Ability to work enthusiastically as part of a team
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Certificat in Medical Terminology
  • Previous experience in a private hospital environment is desirable
