AOD CAse Worker and Counsellor

Your new organisation
This community-based substance misuse service supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families who are experiencing alcohol and other drug (AOD) issues. They are now seeking an AOD Case Manager/Counsellor for a permanent full-time role.

Your new role In this role you’ll facilitate AOD treatment programs aimed at the empowerment of program participants to cope with drug and alcohol problems through individual case management and group programs with the view to achieve therapeutic and lifestyle goals. You’ll facilitate comprehensive case planning in line with the organisation’s current practice models and will display a strength-based, client-centered attitude by taking a caring and welcoming approach to clients. Other responsibilities include up to date entry of case notes, referrals, and revised case plans, as well as establishing networks and relationships with remote and urban-based communities and organisations This is a dual role position; 3 days per week you will be working as an AOD Caseworker and 2 days as an AOD Counsellor.

What you'll need to succeed As the successful candidate you’ll have prior experience working with people with substance use issues, including the provision of case management, group program facilitation and advocacy, as well as experience delivering services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. You’ll have a demonstrated understanding of current issues impacting the delivery of AOD treatment for individuals and families affected by substance misuse and will have a sound knowledge of issues impacting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. You’ll also be willing to keep up to date with current drug and alcohol best practice and will have a Cert IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs or similar relevant qualifications.
