Hurstville Private Hospital is owned and operated by Healthe Care Australia, Australia's largest and fastest growing operator of private hospitals. Hurstville Private Hospital has 164 acute beds, with 7 Operating Theaters, ICU & CCU, Cardiac Cath Labs, Medical Unit, Surgical Unit and a well respected and expanding Maternity Unit. Hurstville Maternity has been in operation for over 29 years, and is the "go to" Maternity Unit in the south of Sydney. We have a team of well regarded Obstetricians and Paediatricians, who together with our highly experienced Maternity team, provide our patients with exceptional care.  Our Maternity Unit was purposely built 3 ½ years ago and occupies the penthouse level of the hospital with sweeping views from the City of Sydney to the Blue Mountains.  In recent years, we have experienced Maternity numbers increasing, and as a result, our leadership and management team is expanding.

About the role

Reporting directly to the Maternity Services Manager, the Maternity Unit Manager will assist in managing the day to day running of the Maternity Unit. We seek a dynamic leader to provide clinical direction & operational management to support Maternity staff, our VMOs & ensure our clinical practice meets our professional service values.

Essential Criteria

  • Current registration with AHPRA as a Certified Midwife
  • Degree in Nursing and /or Health Management or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years experience in the management of and/or coordination of Maternity Services
  • Exceptional interpersonal, leadership and communication skills
  • Comprehensive understanding of financial and human resource management principles

Desirable Criteria

  • Dual qualifications as midwife and nurse
  • Post Grad qualifications in management and/or leadership
  • Experience in equipment and consumable purchasing inclusive of managing costs with repairs of equipment
  • Commitment to a structure learning program for all staff at all levels
  • Evidence of leading accreditation within the maternity environment
  • Evidence of supporting the establishment of new maternity specialties
  • Knowledge of computerised reporting systems such as WebPAS and RosterOn
