Who is NATA?

The National Association of Testing Authorities, Australia (NATA) is a not for profit organisation that operates Australia’s laboratory accreditation system with over 3,000 accredited facilities and is seeking to appoint a Client Coordinator in our Melbourne office located in Camberwell.  This is a full-time career position working for Australia’s national interest, offering variety and job satisfaction.

Established in 1947, NATA is Australia’s foremost organisation responsible for the accreditation of laboratories, inspection bodies, calibration services, producers of reference materials and proficiency testing scheme providers throughout Australia.  This role is formally recognised by the Australian Government through a Memorandum of Understanding.

NATA works in Australia’s national interest by providing independent assurance of technical competence through a process of accreditation, which formally recognises that facilities produce reliable technical results.  NATA’s work increases community confidence and trust in the services offered by accredited facilities, mitigates risk, improves tendering success and facilitates trade.

Role and duties of the position

The appointee will be required to work with a team of professional people engaged in assessment of the competence of mainly pathology laboratories.  The appointee would be expected to work in other areas of accreditation after initial induction training has been completed.

The appointee will be primarily responsible for organising and leading assessment teams comprising appropriate technical experts to conduct on-site assessments.  Duties also include the preparation of technical reports, follow-up of matters arising from assessments and provision of advice to technical assessors and the public on NATA’s policies and technical requirements.  Intrastate and interstate travel will be necessary.

Qualifications and experience

Applicants must have a degree in Science or Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science an advantage) and must have pathology laboratory experience and proven relevant post graduate professional laboratory experience.  You will be computer literate, self-motivated, well organised and a logical thinker, with highly developed interpersonal skills, oral and written communications skills.  A sound knowledge of the laboratory practice and the ability to interact with people at a professional level is required.  The ability to work unsupervised and manage a number of simultaneous tasks is essential.  You must also have a current driver’s licence.  Previous auditing experience would be highly desirable, although training will be provided.

Salary and Conditions

The salary on commencement is equivalent to a total remuneration package of $98,036 per annum.  NATA operates a superannuation scheme and offers normal conditions of leave and other benefits.
