An exciting opportunity exists for a suitably qualified Mental Health Clinician with tertiary qualifications in appropriate disciplines (Occupational Therapy, Social Work, and Clinical Psychology) to join the Emotional Management Program (EMP), part of Living Well Program. EMP is a 4-week inpatient program with groups offered throughout Monday to Friday. We are looking for team members to co-facilitate groups informed by DBT skills, to support the participant group and facilitator. The groups are comprised of psycho education, skills practice, discussion and support therapy. Current vacancy involves redeployment into the Day Program intake team when co-facilitation is not required in the Living Well Program. Tasks include, but are not limited to, bio psychosocial assessment, clinical formulations and placement of patients into therapeutic Day Program groups dependent on patient needs.


Key Responsibilities:
  • To provide psychological services to inpatients, presenting DBT based theory and skill application
  • To co-facilitate and/or facilitate psychological groups presenting DBT based theory and skill application
  • To participate in the development and review of programs as necessary
  • To conduct biopsychosocial assessments and formulations of new referrals into Day Program
  • Participate in the development and evaluation of policies and programs as appropriate.

The Melbourne Clinic offers a variety of inpatient and outpatient programs that are tailored to meet the needs of people with a range of mental health conditions. The Living Well Program is an inpatient service that covers general inpatients, the Professorial Mood Disorders Unit (associated with The University of Melbourne), Older Persons’ Psychiatry, Young Persons’ Psychiatry and the Intensive Psychiatric Care Unit. A Community Outreach Program and a wide range of Day Programs are also available to support people in the community.


Selection Criteria:
  • Appropriate qualifications in Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Social Work
  • Registration with AHPRA, AASW or relevant governing body as appropriate for discipline qualification
  • Exceptional time management and communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Motivation to learn and engage in professional development
  • Ability to practice within appropriate boundaries and seek help and support as required.
