About the role
We are currently seeking a Lifestyle Assistant to work at Maybanke Aged Care Plus Centre, a beautiful heritage listed building in Sydney's inner western suburb of Dulwich Hill. This is a casual role. The shift time is 09.00am to 5.00pm.
In the role of Lifestyle Assistant you will be responsible for supporting and coordinating recreation programs for residents working towards emotional and physical maintenance through recreational and craft activities that promote psychological, social, spritual, emotional and physical wellbeing. The Lifestyle Assistant will work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team in providing residents with quality care, actively trying to maintain the skill level, independence and mobility of individual residents.
The main responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
- Assist in the preparation and implementation of a diverse range of recreational activities for residents that meet their individual needs, including group, small group and individual activities.
- Facilitate resident involvement and engagement in the planning of programs
- Assist in designing activities with consideration of the residents culture, history, likes and preferences
- Motivate and encourage resident involvement in the advertised program
- Continuously assess the recreational needs of residents.
- Assist residents with their recreational needs in a way that respects their dignity and privacy.
- Actively monitor and record changes in residents care plans.
- Maintain regular contact with care team and communicate with other staff
About You
To be considered for this important role, you must have:
- An understanding, empathy, appreciation and ability to promote the values and Christian ethos of The Salvation Army
- Certificate IV in Lifestyle and Leisure
- Experience in the Aged Care sector as a Lifestyle (Recreation Activities) Assistant/ or as a Care Service Employee
- Current First Aid certificate
- Demonstrable knowledge of aged care needs and recreational aids for elderly people.
- Proven ability to monitor and review recreational needs of the elderly.
- Highly developed verbal and written communication skills.
- Computer skills include MS office package
